The Foxhunter Park was bought by Colin Saunders in 1979 and has seen many years of development, love, care and attention.

Introducing many European influences and through continuous innovation and revolutionary ideas, the Foxhunter has become a unique holiday park, winning many awards, and leading the way for others to follow.

We are extremely proud of The Foxhunter Park and are very excited about the future.

The History of
The Foxhunter Park

  • 1979

    1979

    Colin Saunders bought the park from The London Caravan Group with a vision of turning it into the UK’s finest holiday park. Colin, with the help of his Son, Russell and their team immediately started working hard adding many cosmetic features, changing the face of the park completely.

    The park used to operate a double decker bus that went to the local markets and attractions. Dropping owners off and collecting them later in the day, this was a free service for the guests. The bus was a1952 Route Master, it was later sold and is believed to be operating in Las Vegas.

    There has been a long history of birds at the park. One of the most famous was Harvey the Cockatoo. Harvey would often be on the door to the bar greeting guests as they arrived, he remembered many by name. Harvey passed away in 2005 but many birds can still be found around the site including the Ringo the Flamingo.

    Russell left the business to go to university in London where he continued to work and live until 1989.

    Jane left the business to travel, working in top restaurants in California and developing her flair for excellent service and innovative event organising.

    Work commenced on the incredible Mediterranean water gardens, this was a huge investment of nearly £1 Million pounds which was vast even by todays standards.

    Jane returned to the business and implemented computerisation. A real forward thinking step at that time revolutionising the business and making it more efficient. Jane remained working even as she raised her own young family.

    The Foxhunter Park won the ‘England for Excellence’ award after winning the the ‘Calor’ Best Park in England Award in 1988.

    A tennis court was installed then later a huge adventure play area.

    Russell took the reigns of the business and became Managing Director.

    The Foxhunter Park featured in a Channel Four television programme called “Holiday Park”.

  • 2010

    2010

    Planning permission was granted to install luxury lodges on the field that was currently the recreation field. This meant Russell and Jane could start making plans for what would become “Willow Brook".

    September 2014

    In September 2014 The first show lodges arrived on the park and suddenly the development that had been year in planning was a reality. The first Lodges were two Pathfinder Tuscany’s and the outstanding Casa Di Lusso.

    November 2014

    In November 2014 construction started on the brand new Club and Bistro, at an investment of nearly £1 million this was set to be one of the finest facilities available on any UK holiday park.

  • 2015

    February 2015

    February 2015 the construction of Willow Brook commenced and in March 2015 “Le Club”, the new bar and bistro had its grand opening.
